Finally! We get to re-start our Adopt-A-Highway activities now that COVID seems to be under control. We need 8 CMCS members to volunteer to help us out on this activity on Sunday August 29th beginning at 9:30 am for about an hour and a half. Will you please join us?
Also, we will be holding another clean-up on Sunday November 14th as well. So, if you'd like to join us on that event please let me know. Details are below.
As most of you know, one of our CMCS Community Service activities is the Adopt-A-Highway program. Several times a year we remove litter from the shoulder area along I-5 Southbound for about a mile near the NE 175th Street Exit (North Seattle).
In return we get a little exercise, we get the satisfaction of supporting our community, and we get a sign posted along the freeway that identifies CMCS as the volunteer organization responsible for keeping this section of the freeway clean.
This is our 23rd year of participation!
These clean-up sessions utilize CMCS volunteers: two volunteers drive vehicles the day of the clean-up, and we need 8 CMCS Members as volunteers to be litter collectors.
This is an easy way to support your club and to provide a needed service to our community, plus you get to keep any good items you find. We’ve found cash, gift cards, tools and other treasures!
We meet at 9:30 am at the Metro Transit Bus Base Visitor Parking near the 175th Street NE Exit. The litter Pick-up normally takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete.
We often gather at a nearby restaurant following the clean-up for Breakfast/Lunch.
